The worldwide-known 1994 Jonathan Larson Broadway hit “RENT” tells the story of young artists trying to survive in the 1990’s New York scene while dealing with social and financial issues. The musical openly calls attention to subjects such as HIV/AIDS, drug addictions and sexual minorities. But most importantly it reminds to realise how valuable life and love is.
This production of “RENT” (directed by Martins Kagainis) was premiered in September 2020 as part of the student stage and audio-visual festival “Patriarha rudens”. The production also took home the grand prize of the festival. “RENT” is set to open for three more shows in August in the contemporary concert hall “Tu Jau Zini Kur”.
One of the main attractions of this production is the remarkable work of the Riga Cathedral Choir School students and graduates. The show is accompanied by a live band of five musicians.
